Autumn parasite prep for New Zealand pets

    Introduction

Cooler nights arrive but indoor heating and autumn rain keep flea stages active. Ticks remain a risk on bush edges. Keep the calendar steady and freshen living spaces as households move indoors.

    Autumn focus

    • Keep the same monthly dose day through the season

    • Reweigh pets after summer to confirm the correct band

    • Air door mats in the sun and dry car rugs after wet weekends

    Indoor reset

Vacuum skirting, stairs and sofa seams and empty the vacuum outside. Hot wash bedding and favourite blankets and dry thoroughly. If you bring out stored rugs, give them a shake and sun-air before use.

    Yard and walks

Trim shrubs along fences, mow near sleeping spots and check for damp gear in sheds. Add a quick tick check after reserve walks and long grass.

    Safety basics

Do not stack different preventives unless your vet advises. Store products in a cool, dry cupboard away from heaters.

    FAQ

Seeing fleas after rain even though we dose on time
