Spot-ons work well when they reach the skin and are left to dry. Here is a calm, repeatable method for dogs and cats, plus quick fixes for common hiccups.
Choose a quiet room. Weigh your pet and select the correct band. Check the minimum age on the pack. Do not split tubes between pets.
Hold the applicator upright and tap to bring liquid down.
Part the hair to clean, dry skin.
Squeeze the entire tube onto the skin.
Keep pets apart and prevent licking until dry.
Placement tips
Cats: place high on the neck, just behind the head.
Dogs: place between the shoulders where they cannot lick. For large dogs, your vet may suggest several small spots along the back.
Apply to a dry coat. Follow the label’s dry time before bathing or swimming. Chews are water-safe for dogs if you prefer fewer timing rules.
Separate cats that groom each other until the site is dry. Keep children away from fresh application sites. Record the date on the box and set a phone reminder.
Offer a treat after application. Use calm, confident movements. For cats that resist, apply after the evening meal and provide a quiet space while it dries.

Match species, weight band and minimum age. Never stack different preventives unless your vet advises. Wash hands after applying and store products cool and dry.

Use a wider parting and apply to skin only. A small comb can help create a path.

Choose a quiet space and keep the dog occupied until dry. If residue transferred, clean the area and stay on schedule next month.
