Why bounce-back happens
Fleas do not live only on one pet. Eggs fall into beds, rugs and car seats. If one pet is untreated or a dose is late, new adults keep hatching and the itch returns.
Your 7-day quick plan
Day 1. Treat every dog and cat on the same day.
Day 1. Hot wash bedding and soft throws. Vacuum floors, skirting boards and car seats. Empty the vacuum outside.
Days 2 to 7. Vacuum daily. Wash bedding again mid week if the infestation was heavy.
Day 7. Check calendars and set phone reminders so the next doses are on time.
Household timing checklist
Dose all pets on schedule.
Separate pets after spot-ons until the site is dry.
Treat new or visiting pets before they mix, if your vet agrees.
Keep the routine going for at least three months to clear home-hatched fleas.
Pick a proven product for each pet
Choose an application you can give on time. Match the correct weight band and read the label.
Dogs, monthly all in one chew: Simparica Trio
Dogs, monthly flea and tick chew: Nexgard chewables for dogs
Cats, monthly spot-on with tick cover: Revolution Plus
Cats, monthly broad cover without ticks: Revolution topical solution for cats
Simple safety tips
Weigh each pet and choose the correct pack every time.
Use dog products on dogs only. Never use dog products on cats.
Do not split doses between pets.
Keep spot-ons away from children and other pets until dry.
Ask your vet first if a pet has a health condition, is pregnant, or takes other medication.
When to see a vet
Book a visit if there is broken skin, hotspots, hair loss or infection. If your pet seems unwell after a dose, call your vet for advice.
FAQ
Do indoor-only pets need treatment
Often yes. Fleas thrive in warm homes. Treat every pet to stop the cycle.
How long until fleas are gone
You should see progress within one to two weeks. Eggs can keep hatching for several weeks, so stay consistent.
Do I need house sprays
Most homes turn the corner with on-time prevention for all pets plus hot washing and vacuuming. Ask your vet before using any sprays, especially around cats.
