Outdoor adventures raise exposure. Bush edges, long grass and neighbouring pets all add to the mix. Keep prevention on schedule, add quick checks after busy days, and run a light home routine so the environment stays clear.
Choose a spot-on you can apply on time every month or a longer acting option if you prefer fewer dates. Treat every cat in the home on the same day. Recheck weight every couple of months so you remain in the right band.
After-outdoor habits
Quick hands-on check around ear edges, under the collar and at the tail base
Brush out loose hair and flea dirt so skin can breathe
Shake out travel blankets and air them in the sun
Vacuum rugs, sofa seams and cat trees and empty the vacuum outside. Hot wash bedding and dry thoroughly. Keep grass short near sleeping spots and trim dense shrubs so checks are easy.
Broad monthly spot-on with tick cover: Revolution Plus Spot-On for Cats
Longer acting fleas and ticks: Bravecto Spot-On for Cats
Simple monthly option: Revolution Topical Solution for Cats
Use cat-only products and follow label ages and weight bands
Separate housemates that groom each other until the site is dry
Do not combine different spot-ons unless your vet advises
My outdoor cat hunts daily. Anything extra
Ask your vet whether to add a tapewormer at intervals. Keeping flea control tight also helps.
We still see the odd flea after dosing
That can happen while hidden stages finish emerging. Stay on schedule and keep the weekly clean going for a few months.
