Drontal® Tasty Bone Allwormer for Dogs (NZ)

Drontal® Tasty Bone is an oral allwormer for dogs, registered for use in New Zealand. It is used for the treatment and control of common intestinal worms in dogs and for the control of the shedding of Giardia cysts.

Drontal Tasty Bone tablets are flavoured and may be given with or without food.

    What Drontal® for Dogs Treats
    • Roundworm (Ascarids), including Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina

    • Hookworm, including Ancylostoma caninum and Uncinaria stenocephala

    • Whipworm (Trichuris vulpis)

    • Tapeworm, including Dipylidium caninum and Taenia species (including Taenia ovis)

    • Control of the shedding of cysts of the protozoan Giardia spp. in dogs

    How Drontal® Works

Drontal® Tasty Bone contains a combination of febantel, pyrantel embonate and praziquantel. This combination targets a broad range of intestinal worms and is administered orally as a single dose, except where Giardia treatment requires repeat dosing.

    Suitable for Dogs
    • Puppies and adult dogs (minimum weight applies depending on variant)

    • Dogs of all ages when used as directed

    • May be used during lactation

Use during pregnancy differs between variants. Always read the enclosed leaflet before use.

    Treatment Frequency (General Guidance)
    • Puppies: Treat every 2 weeks from 2 weeks of age until 12 weeks, then monthly until 6 months

    • Adult dogs (over 6 months): Treat every 3 months

    • Dogs with heavy worm burdens may require retreatment after 14 days

For Giardia infection, treat for three consecutive days at the recommended dose. Veterinary supervision is recommended.

    Available Variants

This product page covers both Drontal® Tasty Bone variants:

    • Drontal® Tasty Bone 10 kg – one tablet treats up to 10 kg body weight

    • Drontal® Tasty Bone 35 kg – one tablet treats up to 35 kg body weight

Select the correct variant based on your dog’s body weight.

    Dosage Overview
    • Tablets are given by mouth

    • May be administered with or without food

    • Normal diet does not need to be restricted before or after treatment

Each variant has its own dosing table based on body weight. Always follow the dosing instructions on the label and enclosed leaflet.

    Use With Other Parasite Treatments

Drontal® Tasty Bone may be used as part of a broader parasite control programme. Do not use with veterinary medicines containing piperazine.

Fleas act as intermediate hosts for some tapeworms. Effective flea control should be used alongside tapeworm treatment to reduce reinfestation.
