    Puppy parasite plan 0–6 months

    Introduction

The first six months set the tone for a healthy life. Keep it simple: the right schedule, the right weight band, and a home routine you can repeat. Prepared with input from our lead vet and founder, Dr. Feargus McConnell, BVSc.

    Core schedule at a glance

    • Intestinal worms: every 2 weeks until 12 weeks of age (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 weeks), then monthly to 6 months.

    • Heartworm prevention: start as soon as your product’s minimum age and weight allow, then keep it monthly.

    • Fleas and ticks: begin when your product label allows for age and weight. Keep doses on time and check your puppy daily in tick areas.

How to choose products for young pups

    • Pick a format you can give on time. Chews suit bath and beach routines.

    • Match today’s weight band every time. Re-weigh often as puppies grow fast.

    • Treat every dog in the home. Unprotected pets keep the cycle going.

    • Keep cats away from recently treated dogs if a dog label advises it.

    House routine that helps

Vacuum rugs and the car, hot wash bedding, and declutter sleeping spots. Keep this up for the first month after starting flea control so hidden stages clear.

    Missed a dose

Give it as soon as you remember, then reset your reminders from that date. If you missed monthly heartworm prevention, ask your vet whether testing is needed before restarting.

    Safety you should always check

Dog products for dogs only. Check minimum age, weight band, and directions. Do not stack preventatives unless your vet advises.

Do not re-dose unless your vet says it is safe. Offer a small meal later and monitor.

Do I still need to clean the house
