Monthly parasite planner for Australian pet owners

    Introduction

Missed doses are the most common reason parasites break through. This guide shows you how to build a simple monthly plan you can keep. Prepared with input from our lead vet and founder, Dr. Feargus McConnell, BVSc.

Step 1: choose one dose day for all pets

Pick a date you never forget. Salary day or the first Saturday works for many homes. Treat every pet on the same day.

Step 2: match the right pack

Weigh pets before you buy. Choose the correct weight band and minimum age. Dog products for dogs only. Never use a dog product on a cat.

Step 3: set reminders that actually work

    • Phone calendar with repeat set to every month

    • A second reminder for any long-acting product halfway through the interval

    • Keep products together, high and dry, near the food bowl as a visual cue

    Step 4: record doses

Take a quick photo of each dose and save it in a shared album. Note the next due date on the box.

Example plan for a mixed home

    • Dogs: long walk and quick tick check on dose morning

    • Dose all pets after breakfast

    • Hot wash pet bedding that afternoon

    • Add a mid-interval reminder if a long-acting product is used

    If you miss a month

Give the dose as soon as you remember and reset reminders from today. If a dog missed heartworm prevention, ask your vet whether a test is needed before restarting.

    Products we trust

    Safety basics

    • Match species, weight band and minimum age

    • Do not stack preventatives unless your vet advises

    • Keep cats away from recently treated dogs if a dog label advises it

    FAQ

    How often should I re-weigh?
Every 1–3 months, or any time body shape changes.
Can different pets use different formats?
Yes. Many homes use chews for dogs and spot-ons for cats while keeping one house dose day.
