Travel checklist for NZ pets visiting friends and family

    Introduction

Sleepovers with friends and family add new sofas, shared yards and visiting pets. Keep prevention steady and pack a small kit so you can tidy as you go.

    Pack light, pack smart

    • Current product packs and the next due dose

    • Tick tool or fine-tipped tweezers

    • A bed cover and a small towel

    • Poop bags and a zip bag for vacuum canister contents if you empty one

    House rules that help

Ask that visiting pets are up to date with prevention. Keep food sealed and bins lidded. If your host has babies or toddlers, apply cat spot-ons high on the neck and let them dry before cuddles. Shake out travel blankets and air them in the sun each morning.

    Daily two-minute check

After beach, bush or park time, scan ear edges, under the collar, armpits, groin, between toes and tail base. Rinse off sand or mud and towel dry to the skin so mats do not stay damp.

    Heading home

Wash bedding hot, vacuum car mats and empty the vacuum outside. Stay on time with doses for the next few months while any hitchhiker stages clear.
