A clear worming schedule keeps your cat and household safer. Kittens need more frequent doses while they grow. Adults shift to a steady routine. Heartworm is a separate mosquito-borne risk for cats and needs its own prevention.
Every 2 weeks until 12 weeks of age.
Monthly from 12 weeks to 6 months.
Then move to the adult routine below.
Always follow your product’s label and ask your vet if your kitten is underweight or unwell.
Most adult cats need intestinal worming every 3 months. Keep to schedule in homes with children, raw diets, or hunting cats. Heartworm prevention is separate unless your product includes heartworm cover.
Heartworm disease is less common in cats than dogs, but a single worm can cause serious illness. Use a monthly product that lists heartworm prevention on the label and dose year-round.
Add a repeating phone calendar event on dose day.
Keep the box near your cat’s food spot as a visual cue.
One person in the household should be the “dose captain.”
Use cat-only products on cats. Never apply a dog product to a cat.
Choose the correct weight band and check minimum age.
Do not stack wormers unless your vet tells you to.
Read labels carefully for kittens, breeding, pregnant, or lactating cats.
Revolution Plus Spot-On for Cats — monthly spot-on with heartworm prevention plus roundworm and hookworm, fleas and ticks when used as directed.
Revolution Topical Solution for Cats — monthly spot-on with heartworm prevention plus fleas and mites. Choose the right weight band and follow the label.
When should I start worming my kitten?
As soon as your product’s minimum age and weight allow.
Do indoor-only cats still need worming?
Yes. Eggs can come in on shoes and soil. Keep to the schedule.
What if I missed a dose?
Give it as soon as you remember and reset your reminders from today.
